At Operation Hold Your Horses, our herd is more than a group of rescued animals — they are teachers, healers, athletes, veterans, and survivors. Each horse who calls our farm home has a story. Some came from uncertainty. Some came from racing careers. Some came from families who loved them but needed help.
Every single one of them matters.
Our horses are partners in our mission — helping youth grow in confidence, giving veterans a peaceful place to land, and offering second chances to horses who deserve them.

Rescued in 2023 - A 2008 OTTB- A retired warhorse in every sense of the word — both on and off the track. Royal earned nearly a million dollars during his racing career and has more than earned his quiet life here. An old injury keeps him home with us, where he now teaches basics and enjoys being loved on by the kiddos.

Parnelli, whose race name was Rackers, was born in 2003 and is one of the original horses of Operation Hold Your Horses. He came to us from a hoarding case in the early days of the rescue, alongside Royal.
He competed in steeplechasing and was later trained in dressage, giving him both athleticism and refinement.
Now our oldest gentleman, Parnelli has taken a slight step back from heavier program work but still loves guiding riders who need steadiness and quiet confidence. He teaches the finer details of balance, softness, and feel — and does it with dignity.
He has truly been there, done that. 💙

A distinguished young lady learning all the things in her new life beyond the track. We rescued her from an off-track dealer in Delaware in 2024 and now she continues to grow in her training, building strength, confidence, and trust every day.
Mimi represents the heart of our retraining mission: giving Thoroughbreds the time and program they need to succeed beyond racing. Every ride with her is an investment in trust, partnership, and long-term soundness.
She isn’t just restarting.
She’s evolving.
OTTB’s - Captain Chazz, known around the barn simply as “Captain,” and Hot Pot, affectionately called “Hottie,” both came to us through the Turning for Home foster program as they transitioned off the track.
Now stepping into their second careers, they represent the next generation of our retraining mission.
Through patient flatwork, strength-building, and thoughtful progression over fences, they are developing into confident, well-rounded sport horses — not rushed, not pushed, but built correctly.
Hottie is currently on lease here at the farm and thriving in his education. He will eventually be listed for adoption when the timing is right.
Captain continues to mature in his training and, if all goes according to plan, we hope he will be ready for a new home by May or June. As always, we will let him decide when he is truly ready.
They embody what Operation Hold Your Horses stands for:
proper development, partnership, and thoughtful placement for long-term success.
Their next chapters are coming — and we are building them the right way. 💙

(Foaled 2016 | Appendix Quarter Horse | Foundation Horse)
Foaled in 2016, Quint is an Appendix Quarter Horse and one of the original horses of Operation Hold Your Horses. He came into the rescue alongside Parnelli and Royal during the early days when the program was just getting started.
He helped build this place.
Quint will do just about anything we ask of him. Flatwork, lessons, new riders, new challenges — he shows up with a willing attitude and a full personality to match.
He is funny, goofy, quirky, and completely full of life. Whether he’s making faces, playing in the paddock, or quietly carrying a rider who needs confidence, Quint brings energy and heart to everything he does.
He is a favorite in our lessons and programs for a reason — dependable, versatile, and always entertaining.
Foundation horse.
Barn comedian.
Program favorite. 💙
(Approx. 19 Years Old | Our Steady Eddy)
Cheyenne has been with us nearly from the very beginning.
Sometimes life throws families lemons, and sometimes they just need a helping hand. When we have room, we help where we can — and somehow this perfect girl found her way to us and into our program herd.
At approximately 19 years old, Cheyenne is our steady eddy. She has the patience of a saint and the kind of quiet confidence that makes young riders feel safe. She teaches the basics — balance, steering, and trust — without ever needing the spotlight.
She simply shows up and takes care of her kids.
Cheyenne is proof that when horses land where they’re meant to be, everyone wins. 💙
